CANADA LINE

CANADA LINE
******************
Description:
There will be 16 stations along the Canada Line comprising eight underground, two at grade and six elevated stations. Station construction requires more space than the guideway (tunnel/elevated) in order to accommodate the station platforms, walkways, and ancillary equipment. Station construction schedules will vary depending upon the size and complexity of the location, but range from 15 months to three years. In general, elevated stations will take 15 to 21 months to build, while underground stations will take 24 to 36 months. Following construction of the stations, the road surface will be restored.

Locations:
The 16 stations include:
Downtown Vancouver
Cambie Street
Richmond
YVR
Waterfront
Vancouver City Centre
Yaletown - Roundhouse
Olympic Village
Broadway - City Hall
King Edward
Oakridge - 41st Ave
Langara - 49th Ave
Marine Drive
Bridgeport
Aberdeen
Lansdowne
Richmond - Brighouse
Templeton
Sea Island Centre
YVR - Airport

Impacts:
Station construction may result in traffic impacts depending upon the station location and its relative position to the street. In particular, where underground stations are located under city streets, excavation of the station box will result in traffic closures and diversions, loss of parking, truck traffic, some noise and dust, and reduced business and pedestrian access.
